OPTIONAL EXCURSION: KON-TIKI AND FRAM MUSEUM (EUR 95 PER PERSON)

Duration: approximately 2 hours

Includes: private bus transfers, entrance to the Fram and Kon-Tiki Museums, and local guide.

Take the opportunity to visit these two fantastic museums. The Kon-Tiki Museum and the Fram Museum are two separate museums located in Oslo, Norway, both dedicated to maritime history and exploration. The Kon-Tiki Museum is dedicated to the famous Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl and his expeditions. The museum houses the Kon-Tiki raft, which Heyerdahl used for his 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian Islands. Heyerdahl’s journey on the Kon-Tiki demonstrated that prehistoric people could have traveled vast oceanic distances and potentially influenced the cultures of different islands. In addition to the Kon-Tiki raft, the museum also exhibits other boats and artifacts from Heyerdahl’s expeditions, including the Ra II, used to sail across the Atlantic Ocean, and exhibits related to Easter Island and other Polynesian cultures. The museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of exploration and adventure. The Fram Museum is dedicated to the polar exploration ship Fram, used by Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, and Roald Amundsen in their expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic regions during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Fram was specially designed to withstand the pressure of ice and was used in some of the most significant polar expeditions in history. Both museums offer a unique view into the world of exploration and are must-see attractions for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in maritime adventures.
