DAY 02 LIMA, CITY OF THE KINGS, CULTURE AND TRADITIONS
DAY 02 LIMA, CITY OF THE KINGS, CULTURE AND TRADITIONS

In the morning, we will visit the city of kings. We will begin our tour in the Miraflores neighborhood. Our first stop will be the famous Parque del Beso, an icon of the city and from where you have a beautiful view of the bay of Lima. Then we will head to the historic center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which awaits us full of stories from yesteryear. On the way we will pass in front of the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid that confuses with a modern city. We will arrive at the Plaza Mayor of Lima, surrounded by the Cathedral, the Archbishopric of Lima, the Government Palace and the City Hall. We will enter the Cathedral of Lima, where the crypt of the conquistador Francisco Pizarro is located. We will cross the Plaza Mayor and enter the Convent of Santo Domingo, a colonial architectural jewel where time seems to have stopped. In this place rest the remains of Santa Rosa de Lima, San Martín de Porres and San Juan Masías, saints of great devotion. Inside, we will find a large library that houses books printed in the 15th century. The first university in America, San Marcos, was founded in this convent. We will leave the center of Lima, returning to the hotel. We suggest reserving a table at one of the most prestigious restaurants in Lima. In the afternoon, visit the Larco Museum, where we will have a clear view of the cultures that populated ancient Peru. We will be surprised by the gold pieces, textiles and erotic ceramics that are part of the collection that will introduce us to the worldview of ancient Peruvians. The storeroom of this museum will be open during our visit to appreciate the expressions of art that were captured in their ceramics. Our next stop will be an old pisco tavern, in the Pueblo Libre neighborhood. We will taste a Chilcano, prepared with pisco, and a classic butifarra. Next, we will go to the Magic Water Circuit, a park of ornamental fountains that put on a wonderful spectacle of color and fantasy.
