TUCUMÁN – CITY TOUR
TUCUMÁN – CITY TOUR

Breakfast at the Hotel. City tour San Miguel de Tucumán is the largest city in the Argentine Northwest, and it is marked by two fundamental events in Argentina's history: the Battle of Tucumán in September 1812, and the Declaration of Independence on July 9, 1816.

This tour helps to understand these founding processes of the Nation, as well as others from the colonial era. It begins with a walking tour of the city's historic center, which includes Independence Square and its surroundings: the Government House, the San Francisco Basilica, the Cathedral, La Merced Church, and the Historic House of Tucumán, where the congress that declared independence was held. Next, visit the vast Parque 9 de Julio, which includes the Bishop Colombres House, home to the Sugar Industry Museum, one of the province's most important productive activities. Finally, tour the surroundings of Urquiza Square: the Legislature, the Casino and San Martín Theater, and the Belgranian House. Accommodation.

TUCUMÁN – VISIT TO TAFI DEL VALLE AND QUILMES RUINS

Breakfast at the Hotel, Excursion to Tafí del Valle and Quilmes Ruins

We cross the sugar-producing interior of Tucumán, traveling along National Route 38 south to connect with Route 307, which marks the ascent to the Valleys. The road enters the Quebrada (valley) of the Los Sosa River and we stop at the "El Indio" monument. Higher up, we arrive at El Mollar to visit Los Menhires. Then we visit the picturesque town of Tafí del Valle. From here, we continue ascending to the Calchaquí Valleys in a steep zigzag to Abra del Infiernillo, at 3,042 meters above sea level. Next, we tour Amaicha del Valle: we visit the main square and its surroundings. Free time to visit the Pachamama Museum. After joining the legendary RN 40, we reach the Sacred City of Quilmes, which appears on the left. On the hillside, you can see the reconstructions of the defensive area, topped by a fortress at the summit and two forts on each side. We tour on foot what was the last stronghold of indigenous resistance in this region against the advance of the Spanish conquest. After the visit, return to Tucumán. Accommodation.
