Overnight stay.
DAY 05 SUKHOTHAI – LAMPANG – CHIANG RAI
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit the archaeological ruins of the first capital of the Kingdom of Siam. The Sukhothai Kingdom is considered the golden age of Thai civilization, and the religious art and architecture of the era are regarded as the quintessential Thai styles. We will visit the historical park of this ancient capital and its most important temples. Our next stop will be Phayao Lake, where we can relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Lunch. We will then continue to Chiang Rai. Upon arrival, we will visit Rong Suea Ten, or the Blue Temple. Overnight stay.
DAY 06 CHIANG RAI – CHIANG MAI
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit the Golden Triangle, the area where three countries—Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand—converge, separated by the Mekong River; it was formerly a major center for the opium trade. Visit the Opium Museum. Next, visit the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun). Continue to Chiang Mai, known as the "Rose of the North" and the region's most important city. Lunch. The city's origins date back to the Lanna Kingdom in the 13th century; the old city is enclosed by walls and a moat.
